Lipid and Thyroid Panel

We believe care should be high quality, accessible, and affordable. Along with being an in-network provider with most major commercial plans, we accept Maryland Medicaid.

A lipid panel and thyroid panel are two types of blood tests that provide important information about a person’s health status.

A lipid panel measures the levels of various types of lipids, or fats, in the blood. This includes total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol (often referred to as “bad” cholesterol), HDL cholesterol (often referred to as “good” cholesterol), and triglycerides. Abnormal levels of these lipids can increase the risk of cardiovascular disease, stroke, and other health problems.

A thyroid panel measures the levels of thyroid hormones in the blood, including thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH), free T3, and free T4. The thyroid gland plays an important role in regulating metabolism, energy levels, and other bodily functions. Abnormal levels of thyroid hormones can lead to a range of health problems, including hypothyroidism (an underactive thyroid gland) and hyperthyroidism (an overactive thyroid gland).

The lipid panel and thyroid panel tests are often performed together as part of a routine health check-up or to evaluate specific health concerns. Abnormal results may indicate the need for lifestyle changes, medication, or further testing.

It is important to note that reference ranges for lipid and thyroid panel results may vary depending on the laboratory and the individual’s age, gender, and other factors. Therefore, it is important to interpret test results in the context of the individual’s overall health status and medical history.
