General Inquiries

Mendem Health specializes in the care of adolescent girls and women up to age 59. We treat conditions such as, ADHD, anxiety, depression, disordered eating, PTSD, and maternal mental health.

Our provider does not specialize in the care of the aging brain. It is important that these individuals seek care with providers who are trained in the care of this age group and above. Also, our office does not accept Medicare patients. If a patient ages out, they will have to restart care with another provider which can cause interruption in care. 

Mendem Health provides all services 100% via a secure HIPAA-compliant audio-visual technology. We provide services for adolescent girls and women who reside in DC, Maryland, and Virginia.

Mendem Health providers are trained to complete comprehensive mental health evaluations, diagnose mental health conditions, and develop personalized treatment plans specific to your individual needs. Our practice focuses on the treatment of symptoms specific to depression and anxiety.
 
We do treat ADHD and Binge Eating Disorders with non-stimulant options. Consult your provider for alternative treatments.
 
Mendem Health providers do not prescribe any controlled substances (ex. stimulants, benzodiazepines, or sedatives/hypnotics).

In some cases, our provider will accept male patients who have been referred to our practice related to treatment for PTSD related to sexual or domestic violence. This referral will come from the prospective patient’s primary care doctor, therapist, SANE group, or community or advocacy association.

Our provider is paneled with most major insurance companies, including Maryland Medicaid. Our office also accepts self-pay patients. we accept all major credit cards for payment. All payments are made via a secure patient portal. Please contact our office regarding any specific financial questions. We encourage all patients to follow up with their insurance plan to ensure telemedicine services are covered.

All patients can access their medical records via their secure patient portal. Through your patient portal you can send your records to your designated provider for FREE. Medical records requests that require submission outside of the patient portal will incur an administrative fee.

All patients are required to schedule timely follow up appointments to avoid interruptions in medication management. Prescription refill appointments can be scheduled in your patient portal. In cases where you are not able to schedule an appointment, a bridge of 14 days of medication will be prescribed and you will be charged a $25 convenience fee.

Insurance and Financial

If you have a copay, deductible, or coinsurance that is due based on your insurance plan. You will be expected to pay those fees at the start of your appointment. Please be prepared with your credit card to cover your out-of-pocket costs. Once we have submitted a claim for services provided any outstanding balance will be applied to your account. Patients can log into their patient portal to settle any outstanding balances.

You can still become a self-pay patient of Mendem Health. Our self-pay fees are similar to fees that are covered by our insured patients. Contact our office for more information regarding self-pay fees.

We understand there are situations that prevent our patients from attending their scheduled appointment. However, lack of appointment openings prevents other patients from booking earlier appointments. Our cancellation fee with less than 48 hours’ notice (2 business days) is $25. Our no-show fee is $75.

Adolescent Mental Health

There are laws put in place to protect the privacy of your teen’s medical information around reproductive health, mental illness, and substance abuse. Please read the attached document for a clear understanding of the limitations of our office releasing certain information.

Depending on the age, an adolescence can meet privately with the provider if they wish. During the initial appointment, it is expected that the parents are present to clarify any information regard developmental history, other concerns related to the visit. If this is not possible, a second appointment will be scheduled for the parent interview.

Maternal Mental Health

Our provider is trained in perinatal and postpartum anxiety and mood disorders. Our provider treats conditions such as anxiety, postpartum depression, and bipolar disorder. Education and information can be provided in collaboration with your OB/GYN during the perinatal and postpartum stages during the treatment planning process. At Mendem Health, we take an evidence-based approach in the treatment of maternal mental health. Medication selections Will be provided with education of the risk and benefits of treatment. The primary goal is to provide safe and effective treatment with mom and baby in mind.

Based on your assessment, the provider will discuss treatment options that are best suited for your case. All treatment plans are individualized, and patient centered. Other options for treatment can also include lifestyle psychiatry, psychotherapy, and maternal health support groups.

It is important for the mother to feel supported during this process. Please feel free to have your support systems present during your treatment sessions. During this time, your support system is free to ask questions and receive the necessary education to help support you through this process.
